Topography of highly convoluted ridges and side drainages. This side of creek has largest average tree sizes and fewer roads, but there are old skid roads with recent ATV traffic. Across creek, heavily flooded.;Dissected creek drainage on heavy clay soils drained by a slow, steep banked, mud bottomed creek. Lower slope just above zone of frequent flooding, lower part of this community may be occaisionally flooded, but with little effect on community composition. Forest of medium to large sized beech, buckeye and basswood over paw paw. Sugar maple coming up in subcanopy. Second growth, selectivly logged in 1985. Notable lack of beech in understory-mature beech without disease or blemishes.
